Functional alterations in disease
It is well known that the gut microbiota performs key functions to maintain host health, and alterations in those functions are linked to different disorders. We are interested in deciphering the functional changes occurring in different metabolic disorders. We will study expression changes both globally, considering the entire ecosystem, and focusing on specific bacteria of interest. Our goal is to find potential biomarkers for early diagnosis and patient stratification, allowing for improved treatment strategies.
