STEM Talent Girl

The lab took part in a STEM Talent Girl activity organized at CIPF

While we are getting closer to the international day of Women and Girls in Science, the lab participated in an activity organized jointly by the CIPF and the STEM Talent Girl program from the Fundación ASTI. STEM Talent Girl is an educational initiative aimed at inspiring, educating and empowering girls and young women to pursue careers in STEM disciplines. The program helps participants discover and develop their scientific-technological talents through various activities and initiatives, supporting them through different stages of education and helping close the gender gap in these fields.

In this activity, high-school girls visited the CIPF, where they could take a sneak peak of some of the labs, learn about the biomedical research that is being done at the institute, and see what is like to work in a research lab.

Verónica and Ana organized one of the lab visits, explaining our research in the field of the gut microbiota. In addition, the participants could do a DNA extraction experiment, learning first-hand how the work in our lab looks like.
